Ice cream mis-labelling may lead to allergic reaction
May 10 - USA: Dairy Fresh is recalling some IGA branded Ice Cream because it contains a different flavour than that labelled on the packet.
The Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream (1.75 quart, 1.66L) with the plant code “3783” and a sell by date of 8-13-13 is the subject of the notice because it contains Heavenly Hash ice cream, which contains almonds, coconut, and soy, which are allergens not declared on the carton.
The firm is also recalling Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream dated between 06-08-13 and 08-27-13, which is produced by the Dairy Fresh processing facility in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and sold at IGA stores.
The company said it was aware of one consumer who experienced an allergic reaction after consuming the product.
