Asda withdraws burgers due to undeclared sulphites
Asda has withdrawn packs of its Little Eat Beef, Cheese and Tomato Burgers, because the product contains sulphites, which are not mentioned on the label.
The 450g pack sizes include use by dates ranging from 13 April to 3 May but does not list Sodium Metabisulphite on the ingredient declarations.
Some people with asthma are sensitive to sulphites and relatively small amounts may trigger an asthma attack.
Sulphites are used as preservatives in a wide range of foods and help maintain food colour and prolong shelf-life by preventing the growth of micro-organisms.
An Asda statement said: "If you have bought Asda 6 Little eat beef, cheese and tomato burgers with the above use bys, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. No other date codes have been affected."
