Mussels linked to food poisoning in France
April 13 - France: Several cases of food poisoning in France have been linked to the consumption of mussels from Spain in the province of Galicia.
The French authorities were informed of the closure of all areas of mussel harvesting in the province of Galicia following the detection of algae producing Dinophysis lipophilic toxins (diarrheic shellfish poisoning).
The toxins are not destroyed by heat and should check with the place of purchase if they have concerns, according to the Direction générale de l’alimentation (DGAL) et la Direction générale de la santé (DGS).
