Bodrum dried fruit products withdrawn in UK
25 March: UK - Gima UK has withdrawn various Bodrum branded dried fruit products because they contain sulphites which are not mentioned on the label, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The withdrawal includes all batch and date codes, up to and including the 'best before' date 14 January 2014 of Bodrum Diced fruits in 250g packages such as mango, papaya, apricot, pineapple rings and sultana raisins.
Some people with asthma are sensitive to sulphites and relatively small amounts may trigger an asthma attack.
Sulphites are used as preservatives in a range of foods to maintain food colour and prolong shelf-life by preventing the growth of micro-organisms, said the FSA.
