Fererro
The month's saddest news comes from Italian confectionery firm Ferrero, whose co-CEO and scion of the founding family died of a heart attack while cycling in South Africa, aged 47.
The bishop of Alba, Monsignor Giacomo Lanzetti, remembered the business leader as an example of “honesty, industry, sensibility and integrity, a real and earnest man, the community could refer to”.
Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, who referred to him as “A beautiful example to be followed, today and forever. An entrepreneur who was able to embody the best qualities of our industrial time, creativeness and enhancement of work.”
The Ferrero company says Pietro Ferrero was in South Africa on a humanitarian mission he strongly supported and that the group established for some years: the Ferrero Social Enterprises.
