DSM has been confirmed as the leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for chemicals, after software problems through the rankings into doubt.

The chemical industry index was announced in September – with DSM in the lead – but problems were identified with the software which necessitated a reassessment of the scores.

This is the fifth time DSM has come out top of the sector. It held the position in 2009, 2006, 2005 and 2004.

Chairman of the board Feike Sijbesma said the position is “recognition of our continuous efforts in sustainability. Our full commitment to sustainability is shown every day in our products and innovations. Sustainability is one of the growth drivers of DSM and is the core value of the company.”
