Danisco has appointed a new president to its Enablers division, who is said to bring “broad experience from running sizeable global businesses”.

Gilles van Nieuwenhuyzen, who has previously worked with ingredient firms CSM and DSM, will take up the new position as of September 1 2010.

According to Danisco CEO Tom Knutzen, the new appointment will help develop Danisco’s goal of becoming first choice for its customers, part of a larger strategy to strengthen its competitive powers.

“Gilles van Nieuwenhuyzen is a native of the Netherlands and seasoned international executive with a solid business experience gained in general management, marketing, operations and strategy roles both within the food industry and more widely,” said Knutzen.

Last week, Danisco’s chairman confirmed that the company has delivered a strong performance in its first quarter this year.

Speaking at Danisco’s annual general meeting, the chairman of the board of directors Jørgen Tandrup confirmed an organic revenue growth of 5 per cent and an increased operating profit in the first quarter results, which will be announced next month.
