Hopes of appeal or moderation by the European Commission are looking unlikely as the EC has indicated most EFSA opinions will receive little alteration. Indeed, 21 opinions have already become law.
At HIE in Paris last year, NutraIngredients asked if health claims are doomed in Europe. A year down the line, it is becoming apparent that if current methodologies prevail, for a great many sectors, they are, with potentially catastrophic results for the European food and supplements industries.
