Heinz-Jürgen Bertram will become the new CEO of the fragrance and flavours supplier Symrise on July 1 2009.

He replaces Gerold Linzbach, who has held the position for the past four years and is stepping down for personal reasons.

Bertram has been with Symrise since the Haarmann and Reimer group was absorbed into the company in 2003 and was made head of the flavour and nutrition division three years later.

Commenting on the new CEO, chairman of the supervisory board Andreas Schmid said: “In Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, Symrise is gaining a Chief Executive Officer who is totally familiar with the company and the flavours and fragrances sector.”

“In spite of the challenging economic climate I am very happy to face the exciting challenges ahead with motivation and a clear sense of responsibility,” said Bertram, reacting to his appointment.
