A European food manufacturer has placed an order for three tons of non-GMO oat Z Trim from international distributor DKSH, as demand for the fat replacer increases around the world.

According to Z Trim Holdings, manufacturers of the ingredient, the order has come from a “premier European manufacturer and exporter of baked goods”, and the ingredient is intended for a product to be launched this spring.

"International orders of this size represent significant progress in our continuing strategic expansion into global markets via the development of highly technical distributor relationships," said Steve Cohen, CEO of Z Trim Holdings.

Reduction of fat in products is a growing area of interest to food manufacturers as consumers continue to seek out low-fat and low-calorie versions of their favourite foods. Alejandro Espinola, marketing and development manager, performance materials, for DKSH, Chile said the distributor was receiving increasing interest for a functional fat replacer just like Z Trim.
