Snack industry trade show kicks off in Florida
tomorrow in Florida, bringing together players from every level of
the industry for three days of seminars, educational sessions and
business meetings.
The Snack Food Association's Snaxpo 2007 conference will be held March 24-27 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida. The event, which is sponsored by groups including Tate & Lyle, McCormick Flavors and Frito-Lay, aims to provide attendees with information on key industry and association developments, while industry suppliers will also feature their latest developments at the event's trade show. The conference, which is the world's largest trade show dedicated specifically to the snack food industry, will feature two keynote presentations. The first, by Charles Fishman, author of The Wal-Mart Effect, will focus on the influence of Wal-Mart on the snack food industry. The second presentation will provide the annual State of the Snack Food Industry report. Sally Lyons Wyatt, of market research firm Information Resources Inc (IRI), will examine how consumer and market demands for new options are reshaping the industry. The presentation will also include a review of the performance of specific snack food categories. Educational sessions to be presented at the conference will cover areas such as obesity and consumer issues; food and nutrition policy; energy; and Hispanic markets. Other topics include pandemic planning, commodity hedging, environmental issues and scan based trading. The trade show of Snaxpo 2007 will involve exhibitors from all aspects of the snacking industry, from milling to flavors, packaging, technology, commodities, logistics, and business services.
