Innovation in the food industry is a recurring theme that will never lose its pertinence as long as competition is alive and well.

An upcoming conference organised by the European food and drink body, the CIAA, will take innovation as the starting point for an industry debate. Will the new European Food Safety Agency help to drive innovation? Exactly how innovative is Europe?

Organised in close collaboration with the BLL-BVE (Germanfederation for food law and food science and German food industry federation), Prof. Dr. Matthias Horst, Director General of the BLL/BVE will open the conference.

Other speakers include Geoffrey Podger, the new executive director of the European Food Safety Authority, Etienne Magnien, acting director for biotechnology, agriculture and food, at the European Commission DG Research and Corinne Goenee from the company Innovaction.

The CIAA conference will take place on 14 October (10.00-12.00 am) in Europasaal (Osthalle).
