Swiss life science company Lonza has agreed to sell its fatty acid and glycerine operation located in Painesville, Ohio, USA to oleochemical producers Twin Rivers Technologies.

"This transaction is a part of the oleochemicals business and is consistent with Lonza's Vision to be the preeminent supplier to the life sciences industry,"​ said Gary Williams, Head of Lonza Performance Chemicals. Paul Angelico, Twin Rivers Technologies' President, also added: "The addition of a Midwest operation will strengthen Twin Rivers' supply network for our fatty acids and glycerine customers."

Lonza Group​, a leading supplier of ctive chemical ingredients, intermediates and biotechnology solutions to the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries, had sales of CHF 2.5 billion (€1.7bn) in 2001. The company operates 21 production and R&D facilities in 9 countries.

Twin Rivers Technologies​ provides a range of fatty acids to the soap, detergent and personal care industries and industrial markets as well as fatty esters to the snack foods industry.
