In response to growing attention on genetically-modified (GM) grains the American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC) has introduced two new Check Sample series for GM grain. According to the AACC International Check Sample and Proficiency Testing Service this new Check Sample series consists of bimonthly samples of ground corn and/or soybean. Participants can use quantitative or qualitative methods. The AACC stresses that by subscribing to these new series, laboratories should be able to help ensure raw materials meet specifications and become proficient in knowing if GM grain is present in products.
