The UK Food Standards Agency launched a website to provide a voice
for the views or consumers and industry on food production and food
safety.

The UK Policy Commission on Farming and Food announced on August 9 2001 that it will advise the Government on 'how it can create a sustainable, competitive and diverse farming and food sector within a thriving rural economy which puts environmental, public health and animal welfare to the fore.' To provide the government with a full picture the Commission is currently looking at many aspects of farming and food. For its part the Food Standards Agency (FSA), as the Government Department responsible for food safety and standards, will be preparing its own submission over the next few weeks. In a step towards receiving the maximum comments from industry the FSA has launched a new website, www.talkfood.org.uk. The Agency is inviting individual consumers or those involved in food production to provide their view on food production and food safety. The FSA assures us that the comments will be fed into the FSA response to the Commission.
