The European Union is sending a commission to Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul state in Brazil, to inspect the state's foot-and-mouth eradication program and possibly lift the ban on the region's meat, which was imposed when the first outbreak of the disease was confirmed in mid May. The lift would come 30 days after the vaccination campaign is completed, the Gazeta Mercantil reports. Saudi Arabia has lifted its ban on all Brazilian meat and 20 containers, which were stuck in the country's ports, were finally being shipped. Saudi Arabia accounts for 60 per cent of Brazil's whole chicken exports. Source: Gazeta Mercantil
