Plans to merge New Zealand's two largest dairy companies may be delayed by the search for a chief executive, an industry official said. No international candidates were prepared to take on the job as the new business is yet to be formed, the New Zealand newspaper the Dominion reported, citing unnamed industry sources. The proposed merger will create the world's 14th-largest dairy company with $3.6 billion in annual sales. The two dairy companies have yet to agree on an appointment from the local industry to take temporary charge until the business is operating, the newspapersaid. . New Zealand's 15,000 dairy farmers vote on the plan for the merger later this month. "The appointment of a chief executive will not get in the way of the merger taking place but it may take longer than we planned to resolve," John Roadley, chairman of the merged company which is called Global Dairy Co said.
