French food group Groupe Danone said on Tuesday that it has acquired control of Indonesia's Aqua Group of companies after raising its holding to 74 per cent from 40 per cent. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The transaction, which is subject to Indonesian government approval, will strengthen Danone's position in the packaged water market in Asia. Danone said Aqua group sales volumes grew 50 per cent in 2000 to 1.8 billion litres and net sales amounted to 91 million euro for the period "with attractive profitability." Source: Asia Pulse
