UK consumers once again trust British beef the results of a poll showed on Tuesday. . The IGD, a leading research and education body for the UK food and grocery industry, said over 60 per cent of 901 Britons interviewed indicated that they were not worried about bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Just under 70per cent said they were less worried than six months ago. The survey further revealed that 76 per cent of consumers are now relatively to very confident about the safety of food. The results of the poll will boost the government's strategy to restore consumer confidence in British beef, after sales of steaks and pies plunged at the height of the BSE epidemic in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
