This week's deadline for indicative bids for the drinks business of Canada's Seagram is a complex event, the Financial Times reported yesterday. Major global drinks business have colluded to try and get the right mix. Britain's Diageo has said it will bid with Pernod Ricard of France. Rivals such as Bacardi, Allied Domecq, Brown-Forman and Fortune Brands have not declared their position yet. The award is a portfolio of 250 brands, including market leaders such as Captain Morgan rum and Crown Royal Canadian whisky, which analysts believe could raise $7.5bn, the paper continued. Results of the bid are expected to be announced towards the end of the year.
