DUOLAC - THE FORTH GENERATION OF PROBIOTICS
Cell Biotech have developed the latest generation of lactic acid bacteria, which involves cryo-protecting of the bacteria with protein, polysaccharides and gums. This state of the art coating technique, does not only protect the bacteria during ingestion against gastric juice and bile salts, but also improve the stability during processing and storage, by increasing the tolerance against oxygen, moisture and high temperatures, which makes the bacteria much more stable than conventional LAB.Especially the acid stability is essential for the bacteria in order to reach the intestine alive, in a good condition to adhere to the mucosa and to proliferate.
MIXED STRAINS OF DUOLAC
We have a great number and variety of strains in our intestine, some transitory and some resident. If we are in perfect health, we have enough strains of each type to keep our system functioning well, but who is perfect. Cell Biotech offers mixed strains giving the possibilities for customers to create high functional probiotic products.

BACTERIOCINS / ANTI-MICROBIAL PEPTIDES Bacteria naturally present in our intestines grow, produce a number of anti-biotic like substances, called bacteriocins or anti-microbial peptides, which can have an inhibitory effect on the growth of certain strains of pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella sp., E. coli 0157 h7, Campylobacter sp. and Listeria sp.). These substances are responsible for some of the beneficial effects of taking Probiotic bacteria, and the benefit of these substances can be exploited without ingesting live bacteria.
Prolac T® are Tyndallized or heat killed bacteria which are not susceptible to heat and moisture, as even the most well coated bacteria will become over extended periods of time. Specially selected strains of bacteria are grown in optimized conditions, then the cells are lyophilized to a dry powder, along with their culture media. These products contain both the cell fragments and metabolic products of growth, and can be just as effective as live bacteria against certain health issues. These can be very effectively used to treat severe diarrhoea and intestinal upsets, since they do not rely on cell growth in the intestine, at a time when the intestinal conditions for growth may not be optimal.
