Savoury Treatts

Treatt, the UK flavour ingredients company that earlier this week announced an increase in turnover for the year, has launched a natural celery oil distillate, adding to its portfolio of savoury flavours.

According to the company, in comparison to celery seed oil the distillate, derived from celery seed, contains enhanced levels of phthalides - the chemicals responsible for the characteristic celery odour.

Additionally, the celery oil distillate, claims Treatt , offers flavourists the handling advantages of a distillate over the traditionally used celery oleoresin. Clear yellow in colour, it claims to have a significantly more intense celery character than the oleoresin, without its stickiness or dark colour.

Treatt is currently working on other new savoury products to be launched over the next year.
