Global sorbate and sweetener producer Nutrinova is to sell and market beta-glucan products in the food and nutraceutical industries. The company announced this week that it has signed a global distribution agreement with Canadian oat technology company, Ceapro Inc. for its beta-glucan and oat ingredients.

The research and development areas of both companies will also work together to develop other dietary fibre products containing glucan.

Health ingredient beta-glucan is the soluble fibre component extracted from oat grain, using Ceapro's patented technology.

The products will be marketed under Nutrinova's brand names - yet to be announced - in the food and nutrition industries.

"This partnership supports our strategy to expand our business into the area of healthy foodstuffs and dietary fibres and complements our recently launched healthy insoluble fibre, Caromax(tm)," commented Dr. Arthur Steinmetz, CEO andPresident of Nutrinova.
