The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) recently published the secondedition of Herbs of Commerce, a guide for common names for herbs sold in theU.S. The revised book aims to increase label clarity for herbal supplements bypromoting standard common names for each herb available in consumer products.AHPA published the first edition of Herbs of Commerce in 1992. It has sincethen been adopted by the Food and Drug Administration for determining theproper common names on labels for most of the herbs sold in the U.S.
