Israeli soy ingredients company Solbar Hatzor has concluded a major capital investment that will provide it with improved capabilities to manufacture a wide range of multi-functional soy protein concentrates, the company reports this week.
The first two versions of soy concentrates Solcon S will be available in November 2002, added Solbar. One version is a high viscosity functional concentrate for emulsified and comminuted meat products and the other is a highly dispersible protein for whole meat muscle brines.
Solbar claims that Solcon S is appropriate for meat systems, where water and fat binding are particularly important. Other tested functional properties of Solcon S, that can be used in functional health foods and vegetarian applications, include stability in stressed conditions, improved yields, enhanced texture and sliceability.
Solbar 's soy protein concentrates are available from non-GMO identity preserved soybeans.
Solbar Hatzor manufactures textured soy concentrates while sister company Solbar Plant Extracts manufactures soy isoflavones.
