The grant, worth DKK 50,000 (€6,722), is intended to aid students complete their thesis and help Danisco “maintain close contact with academia and other areas relevant to the industry”, said the company.
The latest recipient was the University of Copenhagen’s Cecile Marvig Nielsen, whose thesis focusing on characterising the heat resistance of Lactococcus Iactis and Leuconostoc phages was said to be “of key interest to Danisco’s customers”.
“Her work will provide a picture of which heat treatment of milk for bulk starters is necessary to inactivate the various types of phages and thereby reduce these problems for the dairies,”said the Danish ingredients company.
