The acquisitions are inline with the group's strategy to expand its production capacity, outlined in its August 2006 IPOon the Singapore stock exchange.
The deals involve twoland parcels bought in Chengdu, Sichuan province and Huzhou, Zhejiang province, where the firm willset up its second and third manufacturing plants. The group that makes frozen Chinese dumplings andother traditional foods is currently modifying the facilities and adding new machinery for the twonew plants.
The Chengdu plant, with80,000 metric tonnes, is expected to commence operations in the middle of 2007 while theHuzhou plant is expected to be completed by the first half of 2008 and will have an annualproduction capacity of 120,000 metric tonnes.
The group is currentlyexploring suitable sites in Guangdong province to set up its fourth production plant in the PRC.
With the addition ofcapacity from the three new plants, the group's total production capacity is set toincrease by approximately 83 per cent to 660,000 metric tonnes in two years, up from 360,000 metrictonnes currently.
Executive chairman ofSynear Li Wei said: "We believe that locating our production facilities outside Henan Provincewill enable us to penetrate new markets and reach out to more customers."
The new facilities wouldalso allow the firm to create new products to suit the local tastes of its customers.
"In particular, ourHuzhou Plant will enable us to further tap the strong potential demand for our products in theaffluent Yangtze Delta area," said Li.
The group also signed adeal to buy land in Zhengzhou, Henan province to construct a new product development centre thatwill focus on enhancing the quality of its existing products as well as the development of newproducts and improving production efficiency.
