EFSA holds meeting with NGOs on genetically modified organisms

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) held its sixth annual meeting with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) yesterday, in order to update participants about the latest scientific information in this area.

The safety body said that the meeting was part of its ongoing effort to be open and transparent, giving details of its activities on the risk assessment of herbicide tolerant GM plants and related herbicides, among other GM issues.

The meeting was organised “to promote an interactive dialogue between NGOs and EFSA’s experts and staff,” EFSA said in a statement.
