Wessanen completes dairy sale

27-Sep-2001

Dutch food group Koninklijke Wessanen announced this week the completion of the sale of its dairy activities in the United States to National Dairy Holdings. The selling price of USD 400 million will result in a book profit of at least 40 million euros, the company reported.

Wessanen firms Crowley Foods in New York and Marigold Foods in Minneapolis are now part of the National Dairy Holdings stable. According to Wessanen the proceeds of this divestiture will be used for further investment in its 'wellness strategy', which is aimed at healthy, natural food and specialties for the health-conscious consumer.
