Thai health food looks to the West

Thai health food company Nutri Care Foods Co Ltd has its sights set on the international market, the company told a press conference on Thursday.

"Business prospects in international markets look very bright as most people in developed countries are now health-conscious," Boonchai Issarapisit, executive chairman of Nutri Care Foods Co Ltd said.

The company, established eight months ago and local manufacturer of health foods under the NC Food brand, has monthly sales of around 10 million baht (247,511 euros), but it expects to see a jump next month thanks to the annual Vegetarian Food Festival.

"It's highly likely that we can boost our sales revenue by 5 million baht as this festival gains popularity among Thais," Boonchai said. NC Foods is negotiating with a new partner to build a joint factory in order to meet rising demand at home and abroad, Boonchai said. He declined to name the partner, but did say the deal would be sealed within 15 days.
