Non-GM verification for European companies exporting to US

06-Mar-2014

Cert ID Europe has developed a new non-GM verification scheme for food and ingredient companies wishing to avoid genetically modified ingredients – without the need for full non-GM certification.

Full certification involves site visits and audits, but the new programme reviews companies’ documentation and assesses the risk of GM presence instead. The certifier said the initiative was particularly suitable for European companies that want to target North America.

“This ‘desktop review’ approach means that suppliers can have their products verified by a leading certification body in the field without the cost and commitment of full scale certification and without compromising the rigour that their customers expect from Cert ID,” it said.
