FairFood video campaign urges consumers to consider food origins

FairFood International has launched a new campaign to encourage more thought about food origins in advance of World Food Day, by filming themselves eating.

Amsterdam-based FairFood is encouraging consumers to post videos of themselves eat on the campaign Facebook page. The videos are then slowed down and played backwards. “This faces us with the question where out food comes from,” says the NGO.

The campaign website is at www.face-your-food.org .

FairFood is drawing attention the threat of extinction faced by plant and animal species due harmful agricultural practices, and the plight of farmers who suffer because of unfair trade.

“The food industry has the power and the responsibility to make sure that the production of the food we enjoy does not harm our planet,” FairFood says. “Lobbying multinational companies to change their production and trade methods requires tremendous public support.”
