Drop in US e-commerce figures for 2Q


US e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2001 dropped 1.8 per cent to $7.458 billion compared to the first quarter, the US Census Bureau announced this week. Despite the decrease these figures represent an increase of 24.7 per cent from the same period a year ago.

E-commerce sales accounted for 0.9 per cent of the total estimated $807.5 billion retail sales. This last encouraging figure represents an increase of almost 10.8 per cent from the prior quarter.For the full report visit the US Census web site.
