Syngenta has received approval for its double-stacked trait for genetically modified corn in Argentina, combining herbicide tolerance and pesticide resistance, the company said on Tuesday.

The approval from Argentina’s Ministry of Agriculture will mean that Syngenta’s Bt11xGA21 corn will be available to farmers for the 2010/2011 growing season, Syngenta said.

Chief Operating Officer of Syngenta Seeds Davor Pisk said: “We are pleased to receive this approval, which underlines the ongoing support for modern agricultural technology in Argentina. Syngenta already has a strong position in corn in Argentina and this approval will further strengthen our offer in the country, while bringing growers higher value and more convenience.”
