Prof Dr Marc van der Maarel jointed the team at the Food Innovation Center of the Dutch food firm at the beginning of this year, bringing considerable expertise in the use of carbohydrates in food applications.
Van der Maarel was previously employed as a senior research scientist and project manager at TNO Quality of Life. He as a PhD in microbial physiology from the University of Groningen, an MSC in applied biology from Nijmegen University, and is also honorary professor in carbohydrate bioprocessing at the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute.
