Nearly one hundred cases of Salmonella enteritidis phage type 913 (SE PT 913) were reported in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Saskatchewan this year, Canada's official health web site confirms this week.
The ensuing outbreak investigation conducted by Capital Health-Environmental Health, found that the salmonella outbreak was linked to the consumption of mung bean sprouts distributed in the Edmonton area with onset of SE PT 913 infection.
The investigation revealed a link to a local producer of mung bean sprouts.
