Scottish & Newcastle, the UK brewing and leisure group, confirmed last week the acquisition of a 49 per cent stake in Central De Cervejas (Centralcer), the Portuguese brewer and distributor. Scottish & Newcastle are to pay £93m($139.5m) for their part. The news comes a few weeks after Scottish & Newcastle finalised its £1.7bn purchase of Kronenbourg from the French food group Danone.
