An independent report in Australia into the deregulation of the dairy industry must be made public as a matter of urgency, Australian Opposition agriculture spokesman Gavan O'Connor said on Friday. O'Connor said the report, compiled by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, had to be released so farmers and the industry could map out strategies to deal with deregulation. He claimed that farmers were facing growing problems with a difficult adjustment to the new regime with farm incomes falling and that the coalition government must now account for the current difficult situation the dairy industry is now experiencing.
