Rhodia Food, a business within the Food and Consumer Products division of the French speciality chemicals company Rhodia, has launched five new IC-Naturatex systems, containing only natural ingredients, for ice cream and sorbets.

Developed with natural gums and functional ingredients, all products in the Meyprogen IC-Naturatex range are of vegetable origin, do not contain gelatine or other animal based ingredients, or any chemical emulsifier.

"This range, which has been designed for premium ice cream and sorbets, will allow manufacturers to enter the booming organic market. Depending on each recipe, IC-Naturatex systems allows the use of clean labels, avoiding the mention of any chemical, modified starch or E-numbered ingredients," said Fabrice Bohin, regional business director at Rhodia Food .

According to the company, the new stabilisers can be used in products with an organic claim in accordance with EEC ruling 2092/91 on the method of production and labelling of organic products.

Beyond the organic food market, Rhodia Food reports that it is currently aiming to strengthen its health and nutritional ingredients range, with the novel FloraFit range of probiotic lactic cultures, FiberFit soluble fibres, PuroFit calcium phosphates and Rhovanyl Natural, a new organic vanillin.
