Grain production in Ukraine decreased by 13.7 per cent last year compared to 2008 because of decreasing grain yields, according to Agrimarket Info.

The agency noted that Ukraine lowered production volumes of all grains except corn compared to 2008: wheat by 19.3 per cent, barley by 6.2 per cent, rye by 9.3 per cent, oats by 22.6 per cent, buckwheat by 21.6 per cent and millet by 36.9 per cent.

Sunflower production decreased 2.5 per cent last year compared to 2008, resulting in output of 6.4 million tonnes, and canola production decreased by 34.8 per cent compared to 2008, due to the reduction of the harvesting areas, said the agency.
