FDF Director General joins food committee

UK industry body the Food and Drink Federation has announced that its Director General, Sylvia Jay, is to join a new, nine-strong body headed by Sir Don Curry, established to oversee fundamental changes to the farming and food industries.

FDF reports that 'members of the Implementation Group will be independent, with an interest and influence in the key areas to be covered by the government's forthcoming sustainable farming and food strategy.

 

They are to oversee the delivery of that strategy, which will take forward the work of Sir Don Curry's Policy Commission on Farming and Food.',/I>

 

Commenting on joining the Group, Sylvia Jay said:"I am honoured to be invited to participate in this highly important group. Getting this right will be vital for the future of the UK food industry. Success can only be delivered if the entire food chain works together to bring about a more sustainable industry for the benefit of us all."

 

Other members of the group include Sir Peter Davis from Sainsbury's, Richard Macdonald at the National Farmers' Union and Anna Bradley from the National Consumer Council.
