Leading Norwegian food company the Rieber & Søn Group has entered into an agreement with Danish ingredients company Danisco to take over the Danisco's crispy onions activities in Holland, with a sales office in Germany.

Both parties have agreed not to make the purchase price public and have expressed satisfaction with this agreement. Rieber & Søn Group is publicly listed on the Norwegian stock exchange and has already production and sales activities with crispy onions. The Danisco business has a leading position in the European crispy onion market, with a turnover in the order of MNOK 110 million. In addition, the German company has trading sales of around MNOK 50 million.

Danisco reported that the sale is a natural consequence of the company's strategic focus on development, production and sales of food ingredients. The Danish company added in a statement that its strategy to refocus, which is proceeding according to plan, was launched in 1999 and is now virtually complete.
