The site, DSM-food-saving4U.com, features ingredients developed by the company in the last 12 to 24 months that address ways to reduce formulation costs for manufacturers. It covers ingredients in the baking, dairy, brewing and savoury product sectors.
In addition to replacing costly ingredients like emulsifiers and ascorbic acid, the site indicates that savings can be made through increasing production (of cheese, for example), speeding up processes and making them more efficient, and reducing carbon emissions.
Mario Pires, baking & beverage business industry director, told FoodNavigator.com that cost savings have always been a priority, but they have become even more important in the tough economy.
The new website is the first time the company has communicated the cost saving potential of its ingredients all together.
