The Danish food ingredients Chr. Hansen Group has reported group sales of DKK1,243 m (€167.3m) for the first quarter of its financial year 2001/2002, a 3 per cent increase on the corresponding period a year ago.
Group income before tax improved by 17 per cent and amounted to DKK104m(€13.9m).
Chr. Hansen's food ingredients business posted sales of DKK948m (€127.6m) and earnings (EBITA) of DKK107m (€14.4m). Earnings improved by 32 per cent year-on-year.
The group's allergy vaccines business ALK-Abello posted sales of DKK295m (€39.7m) and earnings (EBITA) of DKK71m(€9.5m). In addition to these recent financial results, according to a story in Danish newspaper Borsen, the Christian Hansen Holding A/S is planning to sell its allergy testing unit in two years. The newspaper writes that market analysts have been urging the company to sell the division for some time.
