Cargill has invested US$12.5m in a new animal feed mill in Efremov, Russia, to handle co-products from other agro-industrial products at the site.

Cargill’s Efremov site, 300m from Moscow, includes corn and wheat sweetener plants, a vegetable oil refinery, a bottling facility and a malt plant.

“The total integration of these manufacturing facilities at one site will benefit our new feed mill, as co-products from the other plants will be used to produce animal feed,” said Andrew Glass, Cargill’s country representative in Russia.

The facility has the capacity to produce 250,000 metric tonnes per year of feed. It will produce nutritional feed and specialty, value-added ingredients that can be added to customers’ existing animal feed.
