Cargill and Hojiblanca bottle olive oil together

A new bottling plant in Spain has been inaugurated by JV partners Cargill and Hojiblanca, supplying olive oil for private label.

The 50-50 joint venture is called Mercaóleo and represents an €18m investment in the plant itself, located in Antequera, near Malaga. This investment is in addition to working capital required to ramp up the plant to full capacity. The automated plant will be able to bottle more than 100m litres of olive oil every year.

The plant is said to handle the spectrum of olive oil qualities, and clients will be provides with expertise on all aspects of the process, “from tree to table”.
