Unilever, the Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant, is understood to have received three bids of $1.4bn-$1.6bn on Monday for the US bakery business it acquired in last year's $21.3bn takeover of Bestfoods, the Financial Times writes.
Final bids are believed to have been submitted by US group Sara Lee; Bimbo de Mexico, the world's third-largest commercial baker; and Earthgrains, the US bakery group.
Unilever is expected to select a bidder within the next few days. Unilever, which appointed Goldman Sachs to sell the business, is likely to welcome a rapid sale at any price over $1.4bn, analysts said last week.
