Unisys Corporation has been awarded a multi-million Euro contract as part of a consortium to deliver IT services and support for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

The consortium, Unisys Italia, Unisys Belgium and MAPS Spa, will work with EFSA to modernize infrastructure and applications.

They will deliver technology to improve communications and transparency for stakeholders – such as consumer groups and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

It will provide end user services to assist staff in operations, including delivering independent scientific advice and communications on risks related to food in the EU.

The contract will run for three years with the option to extend it for an additional three years.

Bart Steukers, general manager at Unisys Continental Europe, said it was looking forward to working with EFSA to optimize infrastructure and support food safety in Europe.

“We always strive to look beyond our clients' immediate challenges and develop an IT strategy that not only addresses their current demands but also has the scale to support them in the future.”
